| Have an interest in mechanical engineering concepts and design. Am designing a concept car with all wheel drive. This innovation will have faster acceleration, with all four wheels pulling. There are other advantages of this design, like: better traction in ice, snow, mud, sand etc. better handling and safer operating characteristics. You will be able to activate any combination of wheels, or no wheels for towing. You will get the differential effect for cornering by partial or total engage of different wheels. The main feature is the Tesla type turbine drive motor attached to each wheel, Could also be an electric motor. Both are about 95% efficient at optimum speed. The main disadvantages of an electric drive is battery weight and miles between recharges. Another is the price of new batteries that last only a couple years. I am going with the turbine design. The main drive engine could also be a Tesla type turbine attached to a variable pressure pump. A Tesla type engine is three times more efficient than a comparable horsepower gas engine and about twice a Diesel. They should be much cheaper to build with only one moving part in the engine. At cruise speed the engine/pump run just at the optimum speed and pressure to keep the wheel turbines turning. There would be a computer controlled anti-brake and anti-spin system for slippery surfaces and automatic release on one side for cornering. The engine/pump speed and pressure could also be computer controlled and have optional manual control mode. The pumping fluid should be bio-degradable in case of leakage or damage to the system. Plus when it is time to retire the vehicle there is no pollution issues. I would like to work with some one on this concept as a designer. |
